The seats are connected to the side panels of the grandstand steps via high-elasticity manganese steel hinges. The hinges have built-in torsion springs. When the seat is manually lifted to a 90° vertical position, the torsion springs elastically deform and store elastic potential energy. The seat rotates with the hinges until it is flush against the grandstand side panel, at which point a snap-locking device automatically engages, securing the seat in a vertically folded position without wobbling or slipping. At this point, the seat is completely flush against the grandstand structure, with no protruding parts, providing unobstructed access for the overall retraction and expansion of the grandstand.

By gently pressing the unlocking buckle of the limiting device, the torsion spring releases its elastic potential energy, causing the hinge to rotate in the opposite direction. Under the combined action of spring torque and its own weight, the seat flips downwards at a uniform speed to a horizontal position. At the same time, the positioning support at the bottom of the seat precisely aligns with the slot on the step surface, forming horizontal support to ensure stability in the sitting posture, without tilting or displacement. A buffer damping pad is added to the hinge to prevent the seat from flipping too quickly due to excessive spring torque, which could cause a collision. The limiting device also features a double buckle to prevent accidental unlocking due to vibration or contact when the seat is folded up. After the seat is horizontally unfolded, the fit between the positioning support and the slot is ≥95%, which can distribute the pressure of the seated body and prevent the hinge from deforming due to bearing weight alone.
